The Joint Special Representative of the United Nations and the African Union in Darfur, the Chairman of the United Nations African Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, has describbed the absence of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) and the Sudan Liberation Movement from Doha negotiations as regrettable.
The UNAMID Chairman indicated in his regular report which he presented, Tuesday before the United Nations Security Council that Doha negotiations are progressing well due to the efforts being exerted by the Chief Mediator and the Qatari government, calling on the Security Council to renew its call on the JEM and Abdul Wahid Nur to join Doha peace talks to reach an agreement before the end of the current year.
