The Consultative meeting of the Women leaderships with the political parties and forces warned against the risks of secession considering the self-determination rights as a mad idea.
She called for working to make unity the sole option through contacting the bases and meeting with civil society and religious leaders to preach unity and warn against the risks of secession.
NCP Women Secretary, Samia Ahmed Mohammed said, in the unionist forum to boost unity that the upcoming stage is crucial in Sudan's history and women should have their distinguished role in working for maintaining Sudan's unity.
On her part, Women Union Chairperson, Sara Elija called for intensifying efforts and campaign to make the referendum process a success besides pressing on decision-makers in the NCP and the SPLM to support unity option. She added that south Sudan women leaderships should work positively in favour of the unity option.
SPLM leader and Dr. John Garang Organization Chairperson, Ikhlas Salah affirmed that if women were consulted in the CPA they will definitely have rejected the article related to the right of self-determination, calling the partners of the CPA to work for unity.
