The First Vice-President of the Republic and President of the Government of Southern Sudan (GoSS) and the Supreme Commander of Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit has called on the Joint Defense Council between the Armed Forces and the SPLA to work together for the stability of the homeland and protect it during the coming period.
This came when Salva Kiir met at his office at the Secretariat General of GOSS with a delegation of the Joint Defense Council led by Gen. Ismat Abdul-Rahman Zeinal-Abdeen, Chairman of the Joint Staff.
The Spokesman of the Council, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Abdulla Al-Nao, said in press statement following the meeting that the delegation arrived in Juba to congratulate Salva Kiir on winning the elections and to attend the meeting of the Council
